Owner, Gene E. Schuessler saw a need for a quality pest control firm in the area. On September 1, 1980, he and his good friend and at that time partner, Jim Dodd, started Advanced Pest Control Systems, Inc. The next year Gene's son Gary returned to Cape Girardeau to attend SEMO University and joined the business. Advanced Pest Control Systmes is now in their 34th year of business and growing everyday. Currently, there are 20 field technicians and an office staff of four. Advanced Pest Control Systems is still very much family run. Gene's son, Gary Schuessler, daughter, Deanna Niederkorn, and wife, Dorothy all are active in the business.
Gene has more than 50 years of experience in the pest control industry and he keeps up with the latest in pest control improvement. Advanced Pest Control Systems, Inc. has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce and has been a 30-year member of both the National Pest Control Association, the Missouri Pest Control Association and a member of the Greater St. Louis Pest Control Association. Gene was also presented with the 2012 Dr. Wilbur Enns Man of the Year award by Missouri Pest Management Association.The award is given in recognition of a person who has been outstanding in their contribution of time, talent and innovation causing a positive result in the betterment of the Association and its' membership. Advanced Pest Control Systems believes their continued growth is due to the emphasis on effective service with a watchful eye to the customer's property and safety. When asked his motto, Gene will reply succinctly, "Treat others as you want to be treated.”
